NFC hive tags

Attach a small NFC sticker to each hive box. Tap your iPhone to the tag and Bee Inspector opens that hive instantly — no searching, no typing.

1

Get NFC 215 tags

NTAG215 stickers are inexpensive and widely available online. Any NTAG215 approved for outdoor use will work.

2

Write the hive name to the tag

Use a free NFC writing app such as NFC Tools (by wakdev) or NFC TagWriter by NXP. Create a Text record and enter the hive name exactly as it appears in Bee Inspector — for example Hive 1. Write it to the tag.

3

Attach the tag to the hive

Stick the tag to the side or back of the hive box — avoid the front where bees are actively entering and exiting. Choose a spot you can easily reach with your iPhone without disturbing the entrance.

4

Scan in the apiary

In Bee Inspector, tap the NFC button (top right of the home screen). Hold the top of your iPhone near the tag. The app reads the hive name and opens it directly.

Requires iPhone 7 or later (iOS 13+) or any Android phone with NFC.
