17. Subscriptions & Plans
17.1 Plans
| Plan | Hive limit | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Up to 3 hives, 1 apiary | No charge |
| Hobbyist | Up to 20 hives, unlimited apiaries | $19.99/year |
| Beekeeper | Up to 50 hives, unlimited apiaries | $34.99/year |
| Professional | Up to 100 hives, unlimited apiaries | $49.99/year |
All plans include full access to inspections, queens, notes, harvests, analytics, NFC, and exports. The limit applies to active hives only — inactive hives do not count against your limit.
17.2 Upgrading
- Go to Account → Subscription and tap Upgrade.
- Alternatively, tap the plan badge on the home dashboard.
- Select the plan you want and follow the purchase prompts.
Purchases on iPhone and iPad are processed through Apple. Manage them at Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
Purchases on Android are processed through Google Play. Manage them at Google Play Store → Subscriptions.
17.3 Restoring a Purchase
Tap Restore Purchases on the Subscription screen or on the upgrade paywall. This works the same way on iPhone and Android: it checks the store account you're signed into for a matching purchase and re-applies it to your Bee Inspector account. Use it after reinstalling the app or switching devices — it needs to be tapped manually; purchases don't reattach on their own. Restore Purchases is not available in the web version.
Redeem a Code is a separate feature for Apple offer codes, available only on iPhone and iPad — do not confuse it with Restore Purchases.
17.4 Reaching Your Hive Limit
When you try to add a hive beyond your plan's limit, a dialog appears explaining the limit and offering an upgrade path. Your existing data is never affected — only adding new records is blocked.
