4. Apiaries

An apiary is the top-level container for your hives. If you keep bees in one location, you need one apiary. If you have hives at multiple sites, create one apiary for each site.

4.1 Creating an Apiary

  1. From the dashboard or navigation bar, tap Apiaries.
  2. Tap the + button (top right).
  3. Enter a name for the apiary (e.g. "Home Garden", "South Farm").
  4. Enter a location description (required, e.g. "123 Main St, City, State").
  5. Optionally set Latitude and Longitude directly, or tap "Get Current Location" to fill them in from your device's current position.
  6. Set the creation date (defaults to today).
  7. Optionally add notes.
  8. Tap Save.
info
Note: Coordinates are only set when you fill them in or tap "Get Current Location" — Bee Inspector does not track or update an apiary's location on its own. Update it manually again if the apiary's coordinates change.

4.2 The Apiary Detail Screen

Tap any apiary card to open its detail screen. It shows:

4.3 Editing or Deleting an Apiary

On the apiary detail screen, tap the pencil icon in the top right to edit the apiary's name, location, coordinates, creation date, or notes.

The delete icon (trash can, also top right) is visible only to the account owner. Team members cannot delete an apiary. Deleting requires confirming a dialog first.

info
Note: Deleting an apiary permanently removes it and all hives within it, along with those hives' inspections, queen records, notes, and harvests. Mark a hive as inactive instead of deleting if you want to keep historical records.
