15. Account & Settings
Tap the Account icon in the top right of the home screen to open all account settings.
15.1 Profile
The Profile section shows your email address and display name. Tap the pencil icon next to your name to edit it.
15.2 Appearance
Go to Account → Preferences → Appearance. Choose:
- Light — always use the light theme regardless of device settings.
- System — follow your device's system dark/light mode setting automatically.
- Dark — always use the dark theme.
Your preference is saved on this device.
15.3 Weight Unit
Account → Preferences → Weight Unit: choose Pounds (lbs) or Kilograms (kg). This changes how Bee Inspector displays honey weights in Harvest Records, Extractions, and Analytics, no matter what unit you originally used to enter a record.
You still pick lbs, kg, or frames when recording a harvest or extraction, so you can enter a number straight off whatever scale you're using. Bee Inspector converts and stores it, then shows it back to you in your Weight Unit preference. Frame counts stay as frames, since they aren't a weight, but the estimated weight they add to your totals still converts.
15.4 Keep Screen Awake
When enabled, your device screen stays on while Bee Inspector is open — even if you have not touched it. Enable this before heading to the apiary so you can move between hives without unlocking your phone.
Find the toggle at Account → Preferences → Keep Screen Awake.
15.5 Hive Advisor
Account → Preferences → Hive Advisor: a toggle for the suggestion cards that appear after an inspection and on the hive overview. Hive Advisor reads only the structured fields you fill in (brood pattern, mite counts, stores), never your free-text notes.
It's on by default. Turn it off and the suggestion cards disappear everywhere in the app; turn it back on and they're right where they were.
15.6 Beekeeper Region
Account → Preferences → Beekeeper Region: tells Hive Advisor where you keep bees so its Varroa mite-wash guidance can adjust its action threshold to your actual season rather than a generic calendar.

15.7 Default Frame Capacity
Account → Preferences → Default Frame Capacity: tap the 8-frame or 10-frame chip for a standard Langstroth box, or type any other number into the Frames field — useful if you run top bar or horizontal hives, which typically hold far more frames than a standard box.
This only affects the Frame Capacity suggestion when adding a Super to a hive that doesn't already have its own unambiguous capacity recorded (see Section 5.5, Boxes / Equipment Configuration) — it never overrides a hive's existing pattern, and it's always editable in the moment, so an apiary with a mix of equipment sizes works exactly as before.
15.8 Manage Quick Codes
Account → Preferences → Manage Quick Codes: rename any shorthand code used by Apiary Batch Quick Inspect and Batch Treatment (see Section 22) to match what you already use in the field. Renaming a code changes only its label, not what it records. Codes are capped at 4 characters, and the screen blocks saving until any duplicate codes are fixed. A Reset to Default button restores the original set at any time, and a code-reference sheet (tap the ? icon) lists every code and what it means.
15.9 Sign Out and Delete Account
Scroll to the bottom of the Account screen.
- Sign Out — returns you to the login screen. Nothing is changed or deleted; your data is waiting for you next time you sign in.
- Delete Account — permanently erases your apiaries, hives, inspections, queen records, notes, and harvest records, along with your login itself. You'll be asked to confirm what will be deleted and then re-enter your password before it proceeds. There is no way to recover this data afterward, so export anything you want to keep first.
